5th Brigade (Health Services), 84th Division (Institutional Training)

In 2004, the 84th Division (Institutional Training) underwent a major transformation. As a result, all 8 of the Division's brigades were inactivated and reflagged as elements of the 100th Division.

The 5th Brigade (Health Services), 84th Division (Institutional Training) was headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Its mission was to provide instruction in the basic medical specialist field and licensed practical nurse field. The 5th Brigade was one of The Army School System (TASS) Brigades in Region E, which included the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. The 5th Brigade was responsible for all medical courses. Course training sites are chosen based on density of students in that immediate area.

The peacetime mission of the 5th Brigade was to run a year round school system providing medical military specialty skill training to Army Active Duty, Army Reserve and National Guard soldiers throughout the Division's six-state area. When mobilized, the Brigade would provide specified instructor personnel, as directed, to any TRADOC installation to support and conduct Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) refresher training for IRR mobilized personnel.

The 5th Brigade, 84th Division (Training) was constituted 16 November 1996 in the Army Reserve as Headquarters, 5th Brigade, 84th Division (Training), and activated at Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
