628th Aviation Support Battalion
The 628th Aviation Support Battalion was originally organized on June 1st, 1959 in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard at Harrisburg as the Aircraft Maintenance Detachment, 228th Transportation Battalion, an element of the 28th Infantry Division. The unit was then reorganized and redesignated in 1960 as the 428th Transportation Detachment, an element of the 28th Infantry Division. On April 1st, 1963, it was reorganized and redesignated as Company E, 728th Maintenance Battalion, an element of the 28th Infantry Division.
On September 1st, 1975, the unit moved to its current location at Fort Indiantown Gap. On September 1st, 1978 it was converted and redesignated as Company E, 28th Aviation Battalion, an element of the 28th Infantry Division. On October 1st, 1986 the unit was redisignated as the 1228th Transportation Company and remained assigned to the 28th Infantry Division. The unit was again converted and redesignated as Company F, 104th Aviation Battalion, an element of the 28th Infantry Division on October 1st, 1987. As of June 2006, the unit's most recent redisignation came on September 1st, 1999 when it was converted and redesignated as Headquarters and headquarters Company, 628th Support Battalion, an element of the 28th Infantry Division.
