60th Troop Command

The 60th Troop Command, headquartered in Rocky Mount, provides command and control, administrative, logistical and training support for a composite force of combat, combat support and combat service supports units across North Carolina. Units of this command accomplish a diverse array of missions to include military police operations, a full spectrum of aviation operations, maintenance and logistical support, transportation, finance, personnel services and petroleum handling.

One of the highlights of this command's training year in 1999 was the support of the Special Olympic World Games in Raleigh-Durham. The command provided military police, transportation assets and an assortment of personnel to support the ten-day event. The 691st Maint Company performed AT in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Elements from Company C and the Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Battalion, 130th Aviation in Morrisville and members from Company E, 130th Aviation in Salisbury deployed to Kuwait as part of Operation Southern Watch. The task force called, Task Force Panther, was the first reserve component aviation deployment to Operation Southern Watch. Task Force Panther totaled 122 North Carolina Army National Guardsmen and was the first RC deployment of combat aviation to Operation Southern Watch.

The 514th Military Police Company deployed a platoon from Greenville to Moldova in August as part of a peacekeeping joint training exercise with Moldovan forces. This was the first training mission of its type with Moldovan forces and was part of the State Partnership Program.

In 1999 the command activated the 1452nd Transportation Company (HET), a 299 person unit, stationed in Oxford, Winston-Salem, Durham and Butner.
