51st Transportation Company (PLS)

The mission of the 51st Transportation Company is to provide truck transportation and palletized cargo in support of V Corps units and others as directed. On order, transition to war or contingency operations in support of US or NATO forces. Conduct transportation operations as required and protect the force and redeploy as direected
The company provides transportation support to 1st Infantry and 1st Armored Divisions as well as V Corps. The company has supported operations in Kosovo and has participated in most deployments including Task Force Hawk and Task Force Falcon in Macedonia.
The 51st Transportation Company was originally constituted on 12 January 1944 in the Army of the United States as the 4153d Quartermaster Truck Company. It activated on 24 January at Fort Davis, Canal Zone.
The unit was converted and redesignated on 1 August 1946 as the 4153d Transportation Truck Company. It was redesignated on 7 May 1947 as the 51st Transportation Company. Inactivated 27 March 1950 at Fort Davis, Canal Zone.
It was allotted on 8 May 1951 to Regular Army and activated on 7 June 1951 at Munich, Germany. It was reorganized and redesigned on 8 June 1953 as the 51st Transportation Company.
The unit received the Army Superior Unit Award for Support During IFOR mission in Former Republic of Yugoslavia.
