447th Signal Battalion
"Signals For Victory"

The mission of the 447th Signal Battalion is to provide command, administrative, and logistical support to all assigned and attached soldiers ; provide a unit environment which will produce a well-trained, highly motivated, disciplined, physically fit Advanced Individual Training (AIT)/Initial Entry Training (IET) soldier who is competent in basic soldiering and Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) related skills; and provide support for the School of Telecommunications Technology and the School of Information Technology.

Headquarters and A Company provides soldiers and civilians to serve as battalion staff and to serve as instructors for the School of Telecommunications Technology and the School of Information Technology. The School of Telecommunications Technology provides basic MOS training. The School of Information Technology provides basic MOS training and officer training.

Bravo, Charlie, Delta and Echo Companies provide cadre to ensure the proper health, welfare, and soldierization of IET student soldiers.

The 447th Signal Battalion was originally constituted on 10 August 1942 as the 447th Signal Construction Battalion, Aviation. The Unit was activated on 29 August 1942 at Dale Mabry Field, FL. It was reorganized and redesignated on 5 October 1944 as the 447th Signal Heavy Construction Battalion. It inactivated on 25 October 1945 at Camp Shanks, NY.

The unit was redesignated on 3 December 1954 as the 447th Signal Battalion and assigned to the Regular Army. The Headquarters was transferred on 23 September 1986 to the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command and organized at Fort Gordon, GA.
