414th Civil Affairs Battalion
The 414th Civil Affairs Battalion located near Utica, NY has a number of openings for Officers and Enlisted Soldiers. The 414th Civil Affairs Battalion is a part of the Special Operations community, providing civil military liaison with international agencies, civilian governments and civilian population. The majority of vacancies exists for Civil Affairs Officers, Sergeants and Specialist (all MOS 38A). Officers and Prior Service Enlisted personnel of any branch can gain Civil Affairs qualification after joining the unit.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 30 January 1995, consisting of a gold color metal and enamel device consisting of a shield blazoned: Per pale Argent and Purpure a sphere counterchanged gridlined of the field, overall a sword Or. Attached below and to the sides of the shield a black scroll doubled white and inscribed "LIAISONS TO THE WORLD" in gold. Purple and white are the colors traditionally associated with Civil Affairs organizations. The sword and globe are adapted from the Civil Affairs insignia of branch. Gold stands for excellence. The globe also represents worldwide capabilities and service in Southwest Asia.
