3rd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade
On 16 September 2011, the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade was inactivated and personnel reflagged as the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Engineer Brigade. The 17th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 6th Engineer Battalion, and 793rd Military Police Battalion were assigned to the 2nd Engineer Brigade. The Northern Warfare Training Center was reassigned directly to US Army Alaska (USARAK).
The mission of the 3rd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade is to, when directed, deploy world wide to designated contingency areas. It would then, on Order, command and control tailored forces necessary to conduct maneuver support, area support, consequence management and stability operations.
The 3rd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade was comprised of 3 battalions and the Northern Warfare Training Center (NWTC; located at Fort Wainwright, Alaska). It had 26 deployable companies with unique skills and capabilities. At any given time, multiple companies were in different phases of the Army Force Generation (ARFORGEN) Cycle due to support of world-wide contingency operations.
