395th Finance Battalion
The 395th Finance Battalion was constituted 23 April 1943 in the Army of the United States as the 50th Finance Disbursing Section. Activated 25 June 1943 at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. Inactivated 15 March 1946 in France. Redesignated 11 June 1947 as the 395th Finance Disbursing Section and allotted to the Organized Reserves. Activated 4 July 1947 at Nampa, Idaho. Organized Reserves redesignated 25 March 1948 as the Organized Reserve Corps; redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve. Location changed 4 November 1948 to Boise, Idaho. Inactivated 30 November 1950 at Boise, Idaho.
Redesignated 24 November 1967 as the 395th Finance Section. Activated 10 January 1968 at Salt Lake City, Utah. Reorganized and redesignated 16 September 1988 as the 395th Finance Support Unit. Reorganized and redesignated 17 September 1993 as the 395th Finance Battalion.
The insignia was authorized on 16 July 1996, consisting of a shield blazoned: Per chevron debased dancetty of three Argent (Silver Gray) and Or, a rondel counterchanged bearing a bee in flight Sable garnished of the second; a point pointed counterchanged. Attached below the shield a black scroll doubled and inscribed "PAY WITH PRIDE" in gold. Silver gray and golden yellow (gold) are the colors traditionally used by Finance units. Black is for strength, constancy, solidity, and stability. Gold symbolizes excellence, high ideals, and achievement. The four mountain peaks represent the unit's four campaigns during World War II. The mountains allude to the Rocky Mountains, location of the unit, and denote fortitude and steadfastness. The bee, signifying industry, is a symbol of Utah. The gold disc alludes to monetary exchange and the organization's mission.
