326th Replacement Battalion (CONUS)

Support the Continental United States (CONUS) Replacement Center at Fort Knox, Kentucky, which prepares individual ready reservists, individual mobilization augmentees, civilians, and active duty soldiers for deployment to various theaters of operation. With personnel service specialists, administration specialists, and supply specialists, the 326th CRB and its assigned subordinate units prepare soldiers not yet assigned to deploy and fill vacancies in the field.

The 326th also furnishes logistical and administrative support to two non-aligned units: 48th Military History Detachment (MHD) located in Indianapolis, Indiana; and 350th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment (MPAD) located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The 48th MHD and 350th MPAD report to the 326th CRB, but have a different mission and wartime trace than the battalion. These units follow guidance from their war-trace hierarchy with respect to their wartime mission requirements.

In support of Operation Joint Guard, the 326th CRB took part in a mobilization at Fort Benning, Georgia. The 326th replaced active duty soldiers for two weeks and processed 140 soldiers for duty overseas.

Both the 350th MPAD and the 48th MHD deployed to El Salvador to provide public affairs support and historic documentation in support of Operation New Hope. This is part of a good-will program between the United States and the Central American region.

In conjunction with the Alert 99 and Alert 2K efforts, the battalion fielded a three-person basketball team for the annual Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in Indianapolis. This community event provided the battalion with the opportunity to market itself to the community. The team wore the Army T-shirts, talked to members of the audience and answered questions about the Army Reserve. Also in support of Alert 99/2K, thirty 326th soldiers marched in the 1999 Veterans Day Parade in Indianapolis; the CRB set up booths at local area high schools throughout the year and at Black Expo 99 and 2000, an Indianapolis-based African-American heritage festival. There was also an extensive military display set up and manned by 326th units as part of the Armed Forces Day activities at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
