2nd Military Intelligence Battalion
The 2nd was constituted on 18 October 1961 in the Regular Army as the 2nd Air Reconnaissance Support Battalion. The unit was activated on 15 November 1961 in Germany. The Battalion was converted and redesignated on 16 September 1962 as the 2nd Military Intelligence Battalion.
The Battalion deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield and subsequently Operation Desert Shield, participating in 3 campaigns in total: Defense of Saudi Arabia, Liberation and Defense of Kuwait, and Cease-Fire. After returning from the deployment, the unit was inactivated on 15 November 1991 in Germany.
The Battalion was reactivated 17 October 2002 in Germany assigned to the 66th Military Intelligence Group (later redesignated as the 66th Military Intelligence Brigade). Originally located at Darmstadt, Germany, the Battalion relocated to Wiesbaden in November 2008.
