23rd Quartermaster Brigade
The 23rd Quartermaster Brigade trains over 23,000 students annually, consisting of officers, warrant officers, NCOs, and enlisted personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines, as well as foreign countries. The Brigade enforces high standards of training and discipline; produces Quartermaster soldiers of character who are physically fit, technically competent, highly disciplined, full of pride and have a warrior spirit; prepares soldiers, marines and leaders to sustain U.S. Forces in peace and in war.
The mission of HHC, 23rd Quartermaster Brigade, is to provide command, control, administration, and logistical support for soldiers assigned to the Command Group, Brigade Staff, AIT Graduate Holdovers Quartermaster School and Noncommissioned Officers Academy (NCOA), operate the Brigade consolidated arms room, and provide internal and external support to the 23rd Quartermaster Brigade. Provide administrative support, nonjudicial, and personnel service to the NCOA.
The 266th Quartermaster Battalion commands and controls four AIT companies. It provides training for soldiers in MOS training for unit supply and food service specialists for active and reserve components.
The 262nd Quartermaster Battalion trains and provides support to soldiers in three AIT Training Departments: Petroleum and Water Department, Aerial Delivery and Field Services Department, and the Mortuary Affairs Center.
The 244th Quartermaster Battalion trains and provides support to four Advanced Individual Training companies: Alpha, Golf, and Whiskey are composed of soldiers training in the use of automated logistics systems and in warehouse operations, and Mike whose soldiers train in the field of unit supply. The Battalion also provides command and control to Echo Company. Echo Company is responsible for officers attending the basic and functional courses.
The Marine Corps Detachment provides command, control, administrative and logistical support for a school detachment. Provide leadership, motivation and reinforcement of marine standards to enable marine students to reach the fleet MOS trained and eager for new challenges.
The 23ed Quartermaster Brigade was first constituted as the 23ed Quartermaster Truck Regiment (Truck Corps) on May 1, 1936.
The brigade transitions soldiers from Basic Combat Training into the Advanced Individual Training (AIT) environment and graduates technically and tactically competent active and reserve component Quartermaster soldiers and Marines.
Soldiers participate in a five-day, multi-echelon field training exercise scenario, "Log Warrior," with a battle focus on military occupational specialty technical and survivability skill reinforcement training which is a major highlight to compliment their classroom experience.
Also, the brigade's permanent party soldiers are required to be technically, tactically, and administratively prepared for deployment. The brigade consists of three battalions and a Marine Corps Detachment.
The brigade trains and provides command and control over a diversified force of approximately 13,000 soldiers annually.
The average brigade strength is 3,900 soldiers who are undergoing training in 10 MOSs, two warrant officer training programs, international students and the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course and the Quartermaster portion of the Combined Logistics Captains' Career Course.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 27 Apr 1987. The colors buff and blue have been adapted from the Quartermaster School device and are traditionally associated with the Corps. The parchment alludes to matriculation, achievement and the unit's mission. The diagonal blue bar, book and lamp of knowledge have been adapted from the Quartermaster School device. The crossed sword and key superimposed by a wheel are adapted from the Quartermaster Regimental insignia. The laurel is symbolic of achievement and high ideals: the three cords represent the commendable qualities of courage, skill and strength and reflect the history of the unit. The wheel, with twenty-three spokes exposed, refers to the designation of the unit and its logistics heritage.
