205th Military Intelligence Battalion
As of 2010, the 205th Military Intelligence Battalion, located at Fort Shafter, Hawaii, provided all source analysis and collection in support of the US Army Pacific (USARPAC) commander.
The 205th Military Intelligence Battalion was first constituted on 1 January 1939 in the Regular Army as the 2nd Signal Service Company and activated with Headquarters at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey with its organic elements concurrently organized from existing units. It was redesignated on 14 April 1942 as the 2nd Signal Service Battalion. Headquarters, 2nd Signal Service Battalion, was disbanded on 20 April 1946 at Arlington Hall Station, Virginia. Its organic elements were disbanded on 15 May 1950.
Headquarters, 2nd Signal Service Battalion was reconstituted on 1 October 1991 in the Regular Army as Headquarters, 205th Military Intelligence Battalion. It was redesignated on 31 October 1992 as Headquarters, Headquarters and Service Company, 205th Military Intelligence Battalion, and activated at Fort Shafter, Hawaii with its organic elements concurrently constituted and activated.
The 205th MI Battalion deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005.
