2nd Battalion (Training Support) (Field Artillery), 395th Regiment

The 2nd Battalion (Training Support) (Field Artillery), 395th Regiment's mission was to facilitate pre-mobilization collective training of affiliated Army National Guard 155mm Field Artillery priority units at both the home stations of those units and at designated training centers, using yearly and mission training plans and WARTRACE to achieve battery-level proficiency and to set Conditions for post-mobilization training. The Battalion also assisted traditional units as resources permited.

Of the 6 field artillery training support battalions in the Fifth US Army area of responsibility in the early 2000s, 3 of them were tasked to provide training support to self-propelled field artillery units. One of these battalions was the 2nd Battalion (Training Support) (Field Artillery), 395th Regiment. The Battalion was affiliated with 3 priority units and 5 traditional units. The 3 priority units were: 1st Battalion, 127th Field Artillery of the Kansas Army National Guard based at Ottawa, Kansas; 1st Battalion, 129th Field Artillery of the Missouri Army National Guard based at Maryville, Missouri; and 1st Battalion, 141st Field Artillery of the Lousisiana Army National Guard based at New Orleans, Louisiana. While primarily associated with training support to self-propelled howitzer units, 1st Battalion, 129th Field Artillery was a towed 155mm howitzer battalion equipped with the M198. The 5 traditional units were: Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, Division Artillery, 49th Armored Division of the Texas Army National Guard based at San Antonio Texas; 1st Battalion, 202nd Field Artillery of the New Mexico Army National Guard based at Las Cruces, New Mexico; 1st Battalion, 133rd Field Artillery of the Texas Army National Guard based at Beaumont, Texas; 3rd Battalion, 133rd Field Artillery of the Texas Army National Guard based at El Paso, Texas; and 4th Battalion, 133rd Field Artillery of the Texas Army National Guard based at New Braunfels, Texas.

With the decision in the mid-2000s to again restructure training support units, the 2nd Battalion, 395th Regiment was reassigned from the 2nd Brigade, 75th Division (Training Support) to the 120th Infantry Brigade (Training Support).
