2-25th Aviation Regiment
2nd Battalion (Assault), 25th Aviation Regiment prepares for worldwide deployment and, when directed, conducts day and night vision goggle (NVG) air assaults and general support helicopter operations across the full range of military operations. On order, commands and controls an aviation task force.
2nd Battalion was constituted on 21 June 1963 in the Regular Army as Company B, 25th Aviation Battalion, an element of the 25th Infantry Division and was activated 12 August 1963 at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. In October 1985 it was inactivated at Schofield Barracks and was reactivated in January 1986 at Wheeler Air Force Base, Hawaii.
The battalion was reorganized and redesignated 16 May 1988 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2d Battalion, 25th Aviation, relieved from assignment to the 25th Infantry Division, and assigned to the 10th Mountain Division (organic elements concurrently constituted and activated).
In March 1996 the battalion was relieved from assignment to the 10th Mountain Division and assigned to the 25th Infantry Division.
