2nd Battalion - 110th Field Artillery Regiment
As of 2 September, 2006 the 2nd Battalion, 110th Field Artillery Regiment was officially attached as an organic fires battalion to the 58th Brigade Combat Team of the 29th Infantry Division. This move of the 2-110th Field Artillery from the 3rd Brigade to the newly established 58th Brigade Combat Team was made as part of the United States Army's drive towared leaner, more mobile self sustained modular units..
- Rapidly deploying;
- Delivering fast and accurate artillery fire; and
- Planning and coordinateing all fire-support means available.
The 2nd Battalion, 110th Field Artillery, was originally established on December 28, 1915, as Battery A, Maryland National Guard.
The unit was subsequently redesignated as the 1st Maryland Field Artillery Battalion aound 1917 and as the 110th Field Artillery Regiment in November 1917.
The 1st Battalion and 2nd Battalion, 110th Field Artillery Regiment, were redesignated in March 1942, as the 110th Field Artillery Battalion and 224th Field Artillery Battalion, respectively.
The 110th Field Artillery Regiment was reorganized around 1959.
