1-29th Infantry Regiment
"Pioneer Battalion"
1st Battalion (M), 29th Infantry Regiment provides mechanized Infantry training support to the United States Army Infantry School to prepare soldiers and leaders to win on the next battlefield. The 1st Battalion, located at Main Post, trains Bradley Fighting Vehicle commanders, master gunners, and soldiers in the operation and maintenance of vehicles and weapon systems, as well as their tactical employment. Its Bradley Fighting Vehicles support training and demonstration requirements throughout the Infantry School. Additionally, the 1st Battalion's Bradley New Equipment Training Team exports resident training to active and reserve component units throughout the world, providing vital training for leaders and soldiers of all mechanized and cavalry units receiving the battle-proven Bradley Fighting Vehicle.
The Collins Training Center is located about 12 miles from Main Post in Harmony Church.
The 1st Battalion, 29th Infantry Regiment continues to provide quality training at the United States Army Infantry School and Center for the Army. At the Collins Training Center, brand new soldiers meet the challenge of becoming a Bradley Fighting Vehicle Infantryman, leaders transition from other branches or the "light" community into the Bradley force, and experienced NCOs learn how to become BFV Master Gunners. All soldiers training with the 1st Battalion, 29th Infantry Regiment receive professional instruction in up-to-date BFV systems. The battalion continues to transition Army units worldwide in BFV systems through our New Equipment Training Company. Additionally, designated active duty BFV units are simultaneously receiving training on the new M2A3 version. The battalion is continuing to assist in the development of future systems. Along with new technologies, BFV publications updates are always ongoing. This battalion continues to meet all challenges head on. The "Pioneer" battalion will unceasingly focus on unit requirements and maintain a sense of commitment to the field at all levels.
