The legendary unit, which during the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 became the center of defense of the city of Mariupol and later heroically held the Azovstal plant. "Azov" liberated Mariupol in June 2014, participated in the battles near Ilovaisk, defended Mariupol from the end of August 2014, carried out an offensive on Shyrokyne in February 2015, performed tasks in the area of ATO (later OOS). The forces of the unit conducted a successful Pavlopil-Shyrokin operation in 2015, and completed a number of successful combat missions in the area of the Svitlodar arc. T.v.o. commander, Major Bohdan Aleksandrovych Krotevych was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III degree.

In January 2023 the Special Operations Forces of the Azov regiment became the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade as part of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The special operations forces of the Azov regiment started as a volunteer unit of territorial defence on 24 February 2022, created by veterans of the unit of the Azov regiment and representatives of the Azov movement. The fighters of Azov territorial defence defended Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, and in the spring, the unit was re-shaped, and as Special Operation Forces of Azov destroyed Russians on the Zaporizhzhia front, they helped liberate Kherson and fought in Donetsk Oblast.

In general, the russia’s campaign to “demonize” Ukrainian volunteer battalions is systematic in nature. In 2014, the Right Sector became the focus of russian propaganda, and in 2022 – Azov. From the very beginning of russia’s full-scale war in Ukraine, the russian federation called the actions of Azov Regiment all but the most important reason for the “special military operation to “de-Nazify” Ukraine”. According to the leaders of the russian federation, Ukrainians should hate the mythical Nazis. The Kremlin even resorted to “foreign voices” propaganda, spreading pro-russian narratives about Ukrainian Nazi-battalion Azov in the German-language media. In this way, russian propagandists tried to provoke condemnation and distancing from Ukraine in the world community. In the absence of considerable success in the discrediting campaign against Azov, a month ago the russian propaganda machine started an informational and psychological operation aimed at bringing Ukrainians into the state of despair. The main goal is to desecrate Azov as a peculiar symbol of the struggle of Ukrainians and raise doubts about military’s bravery and endurance.

The United Assault Brigade "Lyut" is a paramilitary police unit of a new type. Its fighters are strong-willed and motivated warriors, ready to defend Ukraine and destroy the enemy on all fronts. Special purpose regiments "Safari" and "Tsunami", battalion of special purpose police patrol service "Luhansk-1 named after Hero of Ukraine Serhiy Gubanov" - police units united by "Lyut". These are fighters who performed combat missions in the Kyiv region, Zaporizhia region, Kharkiv region, Kherson region, and Donetsk region. Bucha, Irpin, Kherson, Lysychansk, Severodonetsk, Yampil and Bakhmut are cities that hardened the fighting spirit of each of our soldiers. The "Lyut" brigade consists of two assault regiments, a special purpose battalion, an artillery regiment and a special operations company. Their arsenal includes armored vehicles (BMP, APC, KOZAK), artillery, anti-aircraft, anti-tank and sniper weapons. Repelling and deterring armed aggression against Ukraine, carrying out assault operations, neutralizing sabotage and reconnaissance groups and illegal armed formations of the enemy, aerial reconnaissance, identifying enemy positions and destroying the enemy are the main tasks of the United Assault Brigade "Lyut".

The enemy is breaking against us
Since the beginning of the full-scale military action of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the personnel of the military unit gave a worthy rebuff to the enemy's attempts to break through to the city of Kharkiv, participated in the operation to liberate Malaya Rohany, Tsirkuny and Kutuzivka, in cooperation with units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and continue to courageously defend the city of Kharkiv, Kharkiv and part of Luhansk oblast, holds positions in the Toretsk district of Donetsk oblast. During the fighting, the brigade destroyed a significant amount of the aggressor's manpower and military equipment, in particular, 4 enemy tanks on the bypass road near Kharkiv on the first day of defense and an SU-25 plane, the pilot of which was detained. Up to 2 companies of Russian manpower were also eliminated, 2 enemy tanks, 8 BMPs, 2 ZU-23-2 installations were destroyed, 22 units of automotive equipment and a reactive salvo fire system. The commander of military unit 3017, Colonel Pivnenko Oleksandr Serhiyovych, was awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the II and III centuries.

On February 24, 2022, the brigade's company tactical group was the first to engage in combat with Russian special forces near the Antonov airport (Gostomel), which played an important role in the defense of the capital. The fighters of the brigade did not allow the occupiers to deploy the main forces in the immediate vicinity of Kyiv. At that time, five Russian helicopters were destroyed and one was damaged, as well as about a company of enemy personnel was destroyed. During March 2022, the company tactical group of the brigade distinguished itself in the battles in the area of the settlements of Irpin, Huta Mezhihirska and Moschun, inflicting significant losses on the enemy. Fighters took part in battles for Rubizhne. Soldiers of the brigade steadfastly defended Severodonetsk until it was destroyed by Russian aircraft and artillery. During the fighting, the forces of the battalion tactical group of the brigade inflicted significant losses on the enemy: more than 300 units of armored vehicles were destroyed, in particular 240 mm self-propelled guns "Tulpan", more than 1,000 invaders were eliminated and about 1,300 occupiers were wounded. "Charter" arose at the beginning of the full-scale war as a volunteer unit. Its fighters defended the Kharkiv Region and were among the first to cross the border with the Russian Federation during the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Hartians captured and destroyed the enemy's military equipment and infantry. Led a long-term defense of the section of the front in the area of responsibility (the village of Ruska Lozova and the village of Stelmakhivka). Conducted aerial reconnaissance and adjusted the fire of artillery systems. "Charter" is the only volunteer unit in Bakhmut. Now is a new stage of the unit, because "Charter" has become the 13th brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. The ninth brigade will be added to the Offensive Guard of Ukraine [Hvardiia Nastupu, the project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to form new assault brigades to support the Armed Forces. In March 2023 Kateryna Pavlichenko, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, in the national 24/7 newscast, stated that the Ministry of Internal Affairs had received tens of thousands of requests from volunteers who were ready to join the Offensive Guard. Thus the decision to continue the staffing and create the new brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine was made. Pavlichenko specified that this brigade will become the ninth brigade of the Offensive Guard of Ukraine and the seventh one in the National Guard of Ukraine.

Ruslan Muzychuk, spokesperson of the National Guard of Ukraine, in a commentary for Ukrainska Pravda, explained that the new brigade will be formed on the basis of the Khartiia volunteer unit that was formed at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. He added that the volunteers from the Khartiia unit defended Kharkiv Oblast and were one of the first soldiers to reach the border with Russia during the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These soldiers have combat experience, they destroyed military equipment of the Russians and killed their infantry.

The Ministry of the Interior formed eight assault brigades - the so-called Offensive Guard. Among these brigades there is one called the Steel Frontier. The speaker of the State Border Service, Andriy Demchenko, told Vadim Karpyak about the creation of a new brigade, the Steel Border, in the Offensive Guard. According to him, volunteers are waiting in the ranks of the Steel Border. Among them may also be military personnel who have served. They can be reinstated in the ranks of this brigade.

The Steel Border Brigade is based on the units of the State Border Guard Service, which performed tasks in the combat area in the east of the country. “There are servicemen in the brigade who have the appropriate training and combat experience. If retired military personnel who have an idea about military service join, as well as volunteers who do not have combat experience, then the unit will definitely undergo training. It will be both individual training for everyone who joins the ranks of the Steel Border, and the entire unit, so that there is an understanding between the leadership, fighters and units of the brigade, ”explains the speaker of the State Border Guard Service.

The 15th mobile border detachment was created as a unit of a new model. Its structure, management and training system are built taking into account the challenges facing Ukraine. The foundation was laid by the units of the State Border Service, which carried out tasks in the area of hostilities in the east of our country and which courageously resisted the Russian aggressors. In the ranks of the unit, the soldiers who were the first to meet the enemy at the border, defended Azovstal, were on the line of defense in the Lymansky and Bakhmutsky directions, defended the state border with the aggressor country. To perform the tasks, the mobile border detachment is equipped with anti-tank and artillery units, air reconnaissance groups and MANPADS units. His task is to strengthen the defense and protection of our state, to strengthen the border of Ukraine, because border guards are the first on the state border and are an integral part of the country's Defense Forces. The first on the border, the first on the offensive.

Kara Dag is a volcanic rock formation in the Crimean Mountains, which rises to a height of 576 meters or 1,890 ft (Mount Svyata). Kara Dag is one of the most amazing wonders on the peninsula, the most beautiful and the most mysterious corner of southeastern Crimea. On February 24, 2022, from the moment of the full-scale invasion, the personnel began to perform combat tasks, conducted defensive operations in the settlements of Melitopol, Molochansk, Tokmak, Kamianske, Mala Tokmachka. The timely arrival of the regiment's units to the area of combat missions on February 24-27, 2022 made it possible to stop the advance of the overwhelming enemy forces in the directions of Vasylivka - Zaporizhzhia and Tokmak - Orihiv. On February 26, 2022, the personnel of the platoon base on the southern outskirts of the settlement of Molochansk engaged in battle with the overwhelming forces of the Russians, as a result of which the forward patrol, 2 armored personnel carriers with crews and infantry were destroyed, 2 enemy tanks were damaged and disabled, the occupying forces were thrown back to the northern outskirts of the city. During the enemy's attempt to break through the bridge on the southwestern outskirts of the city of Tokmak, 3 enemy tanks were destroyed. Thanks to the use of modern combat methods, the personnel of the brigade, according to confirmed information, destroyed 6 enemy aircraft (4 SU-25 aircraft, 2 K-52 helicopters), 2 UAVs, 1 missile, as well as enemy armored vehicles and manpower. Kara for Crimea, that's what Kara-Dag means! The commander of military unit 3029, Colonel Serhiy Serhiyovych, was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi of the 3rd century.
