33rd guards missile Berislavsko-Khingan twice Red Banner, Order of Suvorov army
The Omsk Missile Association was formed on the basis of the 109th Guards Berislav-Khingan twice Red Banner Order of Suvorov II degree rifle division (sd). The 109th Rifle Division began its combat journey on July 8, 1943, during the days of heavy battles near the foothills of the Caucasus and in the steppes of the Kuban. It was formed on the basis of the 6th and 9th Rifle Brigades (SBR). He commanded the division from the day it was formed until the end of the war with Japan, Hero of the Soviet Union Guards Major General I.V. Baldynov.
For the heroic actions of the personnel in the defense of the Caucasus from the Nazi invaders, the unit was awarded the title of "Guards" (summer 1942 - 6th Rifle Regiment). For the exemplary performance of the combat missions of the command on the front of the struggle against the German invaders (during the defense of the city of Vladikavkaz), the 6th Rifle Regiment was awarded the Order of the Red Banner.
For the liberation of the city of Berislav, the formation was given the honorary name "Berislavskaya". For the exemplary performance of the combat missions of the command on the front of the struggle against the German invaders during the liberation of the city of Nikolaev, the division was awarded the Order of the Red Banner, during the liberation of the city of Odessa - the Order of Suvorov II degree. For distinction in battles against Japanese troops in the Far East, when crossing the Great Khingan mountain range, the formation was given the honorary name Khinganskaya.
On September 1, 1959, on the basis of the 109th Guards Rifle Division, the formation of a missile formation began. Initially, a training artillery range was formed, which, on March 10, 1961, was transformed into a separate missile corps. On April 23, 1970, the corps was transformed into the Guards Rocket Army with a location in the city of Omsk. In order to preserve military traditions and the memory of the military merits of soldiers during the Great Patriotic War, the missile army was given honorary titles and awards of the 109th Guards Rifle Division. On February 7, 1962, the Guards Banner was awarded to the missile association.
The Omsk Missile Association includes: the Red Banner Missile Division (Uzhur, Krasnoyarsk Territory); Guards Glukhovskaya Order of Lenin, Red Banner Orders of Suvorov, Kutuzov and B. Khmelnitsky Missile Division (Novosibirsk); Red Banner Orders of Kutuzov and A. Nevsky Missile Division (Barnaul); Guards Vitebsk Order of Lenin Red Banner Missile Division (Irkutsk). Strategic missilemen of the Omsk Missile Association are on combat duty on Topol missile systems with RS-12M ICBMs and Voevoda missile systems with RS-20V ICBMs.
