27th Guards Missile Vitebsk Red Banner Army

In 1960, on the basis of the 46th training artillery range and the 7th Guards Cannon Artillery Vitebsk Red Banner Division of the RVGK, the formation of three missile brigades began, which in February 1961 were reorganized into the control of the 3rd Separate Guards Missile (ORK) Vitebsk Red Banner Corps , and subordinate brigades into missile divisions.

In 1970, the corps was reorganized into the Guards Rocket Vitebsk Red Banner Army. It included the following formations:

  • Melitopol Red Banner rocket Division (Yurya, Kirov Region), armed with R-16 missiles. Organizationally arrived from the disbanded 5th ORC (Kirov);
  • Guards Rocket Red Banner Order of Suvorov Division (Kostroma), armed with R-16 and UR-100 missiles;
  • Rocket Kiev-Zhytomyr Order of Kutuzov Division (Yoshkar-Ola, Republic of Mari El), armed with R-16 and RS-12 missiles. Organizationally arrived from the disbanded 5th ORC (Kirov);
  • Guards Red Banner Rocket Division (Kozelsk), armed with R-9A and UR-100 missiles;
  • Guards Missile Order of Kutuzov Division (Teykovo), armed with R-16, RS-10 and UR-100 missiles;
  • Tamanskaya Red Banner missile division (town Tatishchevo, Saratov region), armed with UR-100 missiles. Organizationally arrived from the 18th ORC (Orenburg).
  • Guards Rocket Rezhitskaya Division (village of Vypolzovo, Bologoysky District, Tver Region) was organizationally transferred to the 50th Rocket Army (Smolensk).

In 1973-1985. in the Strategic Missile Forces, troops were equipped with MKR missile systems with multiple warheads (MIRV) and means of overcoming anti-missile defense, as well as RSD-10 mobile complexes. In accordance with the plans of the General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces and the Main Headquarters of the Strategic Missile Forces, organizational measures were carried out in the army troops in connection with the re-equipment of divisions with new combat missile systems:

  • in the missile division (Yurya) - with the RSD-10 Pioneer mobile missile system;
  • in the missile division (Kostroma) - on the Republic of Kazakhstan with RS-16A and RS-16B missiles;
  • in missile divisions (the city of Kozelsk and the town of Tatishchevo) in the Republic of Kazakhstan with RS-18 missiles, which were subsequently modified to another modification.

In October 1973, the missile army took part in an exercise to control the country's strategic nuclear forces (SNF). During the exercise with the BSP of the missile regiment of the missile division (Teikovo), a successful combat training launch of the RS-10 missile was carried out. In the order of the Minister of Defense of the USSR, the actions of the Strategic Missile Forces during the exercises were highly appreciated, and the Teykovskaya Missile Division was awarded the Pennant of the Minister of Defense of the USSR "For courage and military prowess shown in the exercises."

On December 18, 1976, the missile regiment (missile division, Tatishchevo township) was the first in the Strategic Missile Forces to go on combat duty with the RS-18 high-protection missile system.

On September 1, 1977, the missile division (Yurya), armed with R-16 missiles, was removed from combat duty. The disposal of the R-16 missile system and the construction of new combat launch positions (BSP) of missile regiments began. The direct formation of missile regiments of the mobile DBK RSD-10 Pioneer, retraining of personnel began. In December 1978, the missile regiment was the first to take up combat duty, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel A.V. Rukobratsky. By the end of 1980, the rest of the SPU missile regiments were on combat duty in the division.

Thus, with the adoption of the new RK in the army in 1976 - 1978. there were nine types of missiles: R-16; R-9A; UR-100; RS-12; RS-10; RS-16A and RS-16B; RS-18; RSD-10.

In accordance with the plans of the Main Headquarters of the Strategic Missile Forces, in 1983, in the missile divisions (Teykovo and Yoshkar-Ola), work began on the selection of position areas for the regiments of the Topol mobile ground-based missile system (PGRK). Preparations began for the first missile regiment of the Topol PGRK in the division (Yoshkar-Ola) to take up combat duty. In the missile division (Kostroma), a large amount of work was carried out to deploy a combat railway missile system (BZHRK), including the formation of BZHRK missile regiments. In July 1983, the BZHRK missile regiment (commander Colonel S.D. Gorbatyuk) was the first in the missile division and the Strategic Missile Forces. Simultaneously with the introduction of the BZHRK missile regiments into the combat strength of the division, a phased removal of OS missile regiments from combat duty, their reorganization or disbandment was carried out. In January 1984, the Rocket Army was awarded the Combat Red Banner under the name "Guards Rocket Vitebsk Red Banner Army." In accordance with the plan of the Main Headquarters of the Strategic Missile Forces, since August 1984, in the missile division (Yurya), the missile regiments of the RSD-10 Pioneer mobile complex were gradually removed from combat duty. The preparation of the missile division to take up combat duty at the Topol PGRK began.

In the missile divisions (Teykovo and Yoshkar-Ola), the formation of missile regiments of the Topol PGRK and the phased removal from combat duty and disbandment of OS regiments began. On July 23, 1985, a missile regiment under the command of Lieutenant Colonel V.V. Dryomov was the first in the Strategic Missile Forces to take up combat duty at the Topol PGRK, armed with the RS-12M missile.

In 1989, a missile regiment armed with the RS-22 missile took up combat duty in the missile division (town Tatishchevo). On June 30, 1990, the Guards Rocket Rezhitskaya Red Banner Division (Vypolzovo village), armed with RS-16A and RS-16B missiles, was accepted into the combat strength of the missile army from the 50th missile army (Smolensk).

Thus, in 1990, the army was armed with five types of missiles RS-18, RS-16B, RS-12M Topol, RS-22 (for BZHRK), RS-22 (for silos). November 7, 1990 seven launchers of the Topol PGRK missile regiment participated in the parade of the Moscow garrison troops on Red Square in Moscow for the first time.

In accordance with the directive of the Main Headquarters of the Strategic Missile Forces in March 1993, the missile divisions stationed in the Republic of Belarus (32nd, 33rd and 49th missile divisions). Withdrawn from the combat strength of the missile army and organizationally transferred to the missile army (Orenburg) missile Melitopol Krasnoznamenny division (Yurya, Kirov region) and missile Kiev-Zhytomyr Order of Kutuzov division (Yoshkar-Ola, Republic of Mari El).

Since the reception, the 32nd Missile Division has been disbanded. By December 31, 1993, the 32nd Missile Division was disbanded. The 33rd and 49th missile divisions (Mozyr and Lida) were still on combat duty at the Topol PGRK and carried out combat training activities. In accordance with the plans of the Main Staff of the Strategic Missile Forces in 1995, the phased disbandment of the 33rd and 49th missile divisions (Mozyr and Lida, Republic of Belarus) began.

On December 25, 1997, in the missile division (town Tatishchevo), the launch minimum of the first missile regiment in the Strategic Missile Forces, armed with the Topol-M missile system with RS-12M2 missiles, was put on experimental combat duty. On December 30, 1998, the first missile regiment, armed with a mine-based Topol-M missile system, took up combat duty (Tatishchevo village).

In the order of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, based on the results of combat training of troops in 1999, the missile army was noted as the best in the Strategic Missile Forces and one of the best in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

In July 2002, the missile Kiev-Zhytomyr Order of Kutuzov Division (Yoshkar-Ola), armed with RS-12M missiles, was excluded from the combat strength of the missile army (Orenburg) and re-included in the combat strength of the missile army (Vladimir) "Poplar". On February 22, 2003, at a solemn meeting of the leaders of the Vladimir region and the city of Vladimir, the command of the garrison and military units, representatives of the public of the region and the city, the Vitebsk Red Banner Guards Rocket Red Banner Army was presented with the standard of the Governor of the Vladimir Region.

In the order of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, based on the results of combat training of troops in 2003, the missile army was noted as the best in the Strategic Missile Forces and one of the best in the RF Armed Forces. According to the results of combat training of the RF Armed Forces in 2004, the missile army was awarded the best in the Strategic Missile Forces and one of the best in the RF Armed Forces. Starting from 2005, special attention of the command, heads of departments and services of the army was paid to the disbandment of the 10th missile division (Kostroma), which was completed by December 1, 2005. PGRK "Topol-M", since 2010 - at PGRK "Yars".

Currently, the missilemen of the Vladimir Missile Association are on combat duty on the Topol missile systems with the RS-12M missile, Topol-M (stationary and mobile-based) with the RS-12M2 missile, Yars with the RS-24 missile, and missile complex with the RS-18 missile.
