D-6 - Institutions
The main executor of the project was assigned to the Leningrad Central Design Bureau-7 of the State Committee for Defense Technology (now the Arsenal Design Bureau). P.A.Tyurin was appointed to the post of chief designer.
Due to the complexity of the new project, several other organizations were involved in the work. Thus, the management system was to be developed by the staff of NII-592 (now NPO Automatics) and NII-49 (Granit-Electron). The creation of solid fuel within the framework of the project "Nylon" was entrusted to the State Institute of Applied Chemistry (GIPH) and NII-125 (FDCT "Soyuz"). Submarines carrying new missiles were to be developed at TsKB-16 and TsKB-18 (SPBMM Malakhit and TsKB Rubin, respectively). In addition, several other organizations involved in various components of the prospective complex were involved in the project.
During 1960, according to the CDB-7 and CDB-34, CDB-16 under the guidance of I.E.Evgrafova developed technical and implementation, and developed the draft PSD-6 submerged [pogruzhajushhegosja] stand for practicing the test missile complex D-6. All working documentation was handed over to the Kherson factory No. 444 in December 1960. Concept and design of the stand had saved similar stand PSD-4, for complex products D-6 was used the second stand specified by Decree of the CPSU Central Committee and USSR Council of Ministers #315-145 dated March 18, 1959 year. In the design documentation and manufacturing equipment attended the TSKB-34 GKOT (design starting system) and plant No. 7 GKOT (manufacture starting system).
By the Decree of the CPSU Central Committee and USSR Council of Ministers # 656-267 dated June 18, 1960, development Ordinance 1958 was set to develop a set of D-6 for project 629 submarine, 658 and 667 (Chief Designer A.s. Kassacier) with solid fuel "Nylon", with the completion of the technical projects PL to the IV-th quarter 1962 year. In the new decree firing range complex was the 1100 km, slightly decreased the specified accuracy. Start joint flight test provided with the submarine project 629B 1962 year in the third quarter. The ruling raised the elaboration of version of rockets for use in army of the Soviet army.
NII-1011 Minsredmash (scientific the head of the K.I. Shelkin) was to develop a specific charge with Automatics, system power supply, contact and proximity sensors and test equipment for technical and starting positions. For the design and manufacture of gyroscopic devices and ship counting-decisive devices umbrella organization was defined as for NII-49 GKS (replaced by Chief Designer Boers).
Under the theme of D-6, NII-88 GKOT (supervisor G.A.Tyulin) was entrusted with the study on aerodynamic and strength characteristics, as well as to develop measurement tools for the product. Fabrication of missiles for complex D-6 was instructed to plant No. 7 GKOT ("Arsenal"), for the production of fuel charges from the "Nylon" attracted Plant #6 of the Leningrad Council of National Economy. To start with the immersion booth PSD-6 set manufacture six layouts without equipment and control systems for testing launch with PL-stand project 613D6.
The complex D-6, in addition to the main performers, involved the following enterprises: part defect tracking of charges in engines, heat-protective coatings, special materials, anti-corrosion for motor installation and manufacturing technology-NII-GKOT 13, involving NIIPM and VNII Fiberglass MCR; manufacturing and delivery charges from the NMF-2-factory No. 101 of Rostov Council; on a rotating current converters for starting positions-Engineering GKAM; the special jelektrochasam-JeChL plant of the Leningrad Council of national economy; electrical ground-OKB-686 and # 686; permanent magnets onboard electrical equipment-SKB and plant No. 667; the special power and on-board cables-OKB-KP GKAM, factory "Cord" of the Moscow Council of "Kamkabel" plant and Perm Council; the special start and on-board cables-Local NIIKP and plant "Tomskcable" Tomsk Council.
