Over the years, the site which has been involved in all aspects of nuclear R&D, helped with two generations of research facilities. In 1982 Fontenay aux Roses geared its main activites towards nuclear safety, radioprotection, biology, security and robotics. In 1997 Fontenay-aux-Roses saw the last of its R&D nuclear materials being dispatched. It is scheduled to be totally decommissioned by 2010.
