L.1.5 Future Activities
DOE and UC will use the Final EIS/EIR in their decision-making process on the proposed actions and alternatives. Under NEPA, DOE will use the Final EIS/EIR to make a decision on the continued operation of LLNL and SNL, Livermore. A Record of Decision will be prepared, published in the Federal Register, and placed in the information depositories. Following CEQA guidelines, the UC Regents will first certify that the Final EIR is adequate according to CEQA, and in combination with a review of the Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program Plan, make a decision on the renewal of the UC contract to operate LLNL. Once a decision has been reached, the Notice of Determination will be filed with the State Clearinghouse.
Concurrent with the publication of the Record of Decision and the filing of the Notice of Determination, a press release will be issued. Then an information flyer on DOE and UC decisions will be prepared and mailed to the public.
