The SSU Counterintelligence has detained two agents of russia's federal security service who were adjusting russian missile and drone attacks on Odesa and Kirovohrad oblasts.

The perpetrators were residents of Odesa region who acted separately but had the same handler. Both were recruited by russia through Telegram channels.

One of them is a 33-year-old deserter who left his military unit in Kirovohrad region without permission and then leaked his unit's location to the FSB.

He also sent the occupiers the coordinates of the staff, training grounds, and routes of the Defense Forces towards the front.

After returning to Odesa region, the agent tried to get a job as a handyman at a defense plant. There, he planned to collect intelligence for the aggressor.

The SSU prevented the agent from infiltrating the Ukrainian defense industry and detained him at his home. Prior to this, the Security Service took action to protect the military unit where he had served.

Another enemy accomplice is a 49-year-old handyman from the village of Lymanske. He passed on to the FSB the movements and combat positions of mobile air defense groups during air raid alerts.

Smartphones with evidence of working for the russian special service were seized from the suspects during searches.

SSU investigators notified the perpetrators of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU, according to the actions committed:

  • 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
  • 408.4 (desertion, committed under martial law).

The suspects are in custody without bail and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operational and investigative actions were carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor's Office and Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Eastern region.
