Following SSU investigation, 8 traitors who fought against Defense Forces on eastern front sentenced to 15 years in prison

Following the investigations by the Security Service, another eight militants who fought against the Defense Forces in Donetsk oblast have been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Ukrainian defenders captured all the perpetrators during fierce battles on Kursk, Kramatorsk, and Lyman directions.

Those convicted include six residents of Luhansk region who voluntarily joined the occupation groupings of russia's Southern military district.

One of them is a resident of Sukhodilsk who joined the 30th motorized rifle regiment of the aggressor state. After a short training period, he was transferred to Sudzha, where he was captured.

Four militants served in the ranks of the occupiers' motorized rifle brigades as snipers and riflemen. They fired at the AFU positions near the villages of Verkhniokamyanske and Berestove.

Two others were residents of the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk oblast who first left for russia and later joined the 37th motorized rifle and 6th tank regiments of russia. As part of these units, they participated in the capture of the villages of Ukrainsk and Zelena Dolina.

The eighth is a resident of Crimea who joined the 299th parachute regiment of the aggressor state and guarded the occupiers' staffs near Bakhmut. He was then transferred to attack Chasiv Yar, where he was captured.

Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service, the court found the accused guilty of crimes under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 111.1, 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
  • 111-1.7 (collaboration).

The investigations were carried out by the SSU Offices in Donetsk, Luhansk, and Sumy regions under the procedural supervision of regional Prosecutor's Offices.
