The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has taken note of the recent statements made by the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, regarding Ukraine's prospects for membership in NATO and the European Union.
Ukraine firmly believes that its security future is inseparably tied to NATO, while its political and economic development is aligned with integration into the European Union. Furthermore, the member states of the Coalition of the Willing have recently confirmed that Ukraine's EU membership constitutes one of the key elements of long-term security guarantees for our country.
At the same time, it is important to recognize that Ukraine's accession to both NATO and the EU is not solely a matter of national interest, but a critical factor in ensuring the stability and security of the entire European and Euro-Atlantic space. This is not an exaggeration, but a reflection of today's geopolitical reality.
We`d like to stress that this position has been consistently reaffirmed in official NATO and EU decisions, as well as in multiple statements by the leaders of partner countries — including Poland.
We are confident that discussions concerning Ukraine's future membership in NATO and the EU are not premature. On the contrary, they are strategically necessary in the context of the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine and the broader European security architecture.
We highly value the leadership that Poland has demonstrated since 2022 in supporting our country. This includes the provision of military assistance, the facilitation of a key logistics hub for international aid to Ukraine, and generous hospitality extended to millions of Ukrainian citizens forced to flee war.
We believe that this enduring solidarity shown by the Polish state and people lays a firm foundation for our shared European future.
Ukraine remains fully committed to close cooperation with all its partners — including the Republic of Poland — in pursuit of our strategic goal: full-fledged membership in both the European Union and NATO.
