The SSU Counterintelligence detained an agent of russia's federal security service who was setting up caches with explosives for the enemy agent and combat groups in Zaporizhzhia. The perpetrator is a 68-year-old resident of the frontline village of Primorske, recruited by the occupiers.
The investigation established that the man lived near the front line. This allowed the russians to deliver improvised explosive devices directly to his yard using drones.
Then, following the FSB's instructions, he travelled to Zaporizhzhia to hide the IEDs in caches and send their coordinates to his handler.
On the way to the 'location', the agent also tracked the bases of the Defense Forces and directions of their movement towards the southern front.
The SSU documented his crimes and caught him while he was setting up a new cache.
According to the investigation, the perpetrator came to the FSB's attention through an acquaintance from the temporarily occupied Tokmak, whom the SSU declared suspect in absentia in February 2024.
Later, the traitor began to communicate directly with his handler, an FSB employee.
During the searches of the suspect's home, the investigators seized a smartphone, which he used to communicate with the enemy.
The SSU notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Zaporizhzhia region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor's Office.
