Today, on 24 August, Ukraine celebrates its Independence Day. To mark the occasion, a flag-raising ceremony took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended by members of the Ukrainian community, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, and the Embassy of Ukraine's Chargé d'Affaires Inna Shcherban.

"Today, on Ukraine's Independence Day, the entire Estonian nation stands in thoughts and in spirit together with the people of Ukraine. Their struggle for freedom is not only the story of Ukraine - it is the story of all of us, of all Europe and of the free world. We know how precious independence is," said Tsahkna.

"We see how the aggressor seeks to redraw borders through violence, and if the aggressor is given in to, his appetite will only grow. We must not reward aggression but stand against it together. Estonia's support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity is unwavering. We must continue military, political, and economic support for Ukraine - not only today, but until lasting peace has been secured in Ukraine," he added. "Ukrainians are defending not only their homes and people, but also the very values on which Europe rests - freedom and justice. That is why Estonia stands with Ukraine not only in words but in deeds. Always."

"On Ukraine's Independence Day we reaffirm once again - you are not alone. Estonia and other free nations will stand by your side for as long as it takes. We believe in Ukraine's future, we believe in freedom, and we believe that together we can overcome aggression," the minister underlined.
