Based on evidence collected by the Security Service, an enemy agent who burned energy infrastructure facilities in Cherkasy oblast has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Over the course of a day, the arsonist attempted to destroy eight electrical substations and a relay cabinet in Uman district.
In this way, russia hoped to cut off power to most of the community and block rail traffic in the region.
The investigation established that the FSB's task was carried out by a 21-year-old local resident who was looking for 'easy money' on Telegram channels. There, he came to the attention of russian special services.
After recruitment, the agent first found locations with power equipment, then broke into them to pour gasoline inside and set them on fire.
The perpetrator filmed the crime to report to the occupiers, from whom he hoped to receive the promised money.
The SSU caught the traitor as he was trying to set fire to another energy object.
Based on the evidence, the court found the accused guilty under two Articles of the CCU:
- 28.2, 113.2 (sabotage, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy, under martial law);
- 194-1.2 (intentional damage to power facilities).
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Cherkasy region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor's Office.
