President of Ukraine
11 August 2025 - 18:50
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff.
During the meeting, the issues raised by Ukrainian warriors on the frontline, which the Head of State had instructed the government to address, were reviewed. The first decisions have already been made.
Regarding the provision of pickup trucks, ATVs, and other equipment - in the near future, combat brigades will be able to purchase them through direct funding. This will work in the same way as the funds allocated to brigades for purchasing drones. The state will also provide the option to purchase not only new pickup trucks, but also used ones. The President stressed that this is exactly what was requested in every brigade. This week, government officials will formalize the decision in documents so that this opportunity will be in place as early as August.
The President also instructed to significantly increase funding for combat units. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, this decision must be fair, and brigades should be given genuinely greater capabilities. Under the updated rules, 7 million hryvnias will be allocated to each brigade for every battalion engaged in combat, which will mean an increase of tens of millions of hryvnias.
In addition, the Staff meeting addressed the issue of simplifying and digitalizing the process of writing off equipment. The government will amend the relevant documents to give corps and brigade commanders more opportunities. The write-off timeframes will also be shortened.
Special attention was paid to the time that passes between the submission for an award and its actual presentation to a warrior. The President gave instructions to streamline the procedures as much as possible, remove unnecessary approvals and bureaucracy. The process of preparing documents for awarding servicemembers must be fast, modern, and modernized. The Ministry of Defense has developed the relevant proposals, and the changes will be implemented in the near future. Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal will present all the details.
The Staff meeting also heard reports on several other issues discussed with battalion commanders during the President's trips to the Kharkiv and Sumy regions last week. Work is underway to prepare decisions on all the matters raised.
