President of Ukraine and Prime Minister of Canada Agreed on a Joint Position and Coordinated Next Steps
President of Ukraine
11 August 2025 - 19:48
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone conversation with Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney.
The Head of State thanked him for Canada's support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, and for the willingness to work together for a just and reliable peace.
The President informed Mark Carney about all the details of Ukraine's diplomatic efforts and ongoing communication with partners. Coordination of joint decisions and next steps, as well as discussions of possible meeting formats in the near future are underway.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared Ukraine's view of Russia's true intentions and plans. The leaders share the understanding that the Russians aim only to buy time, not to end the war. This is evidenced, in particular, by the situation on the battlefield and Russia's strikes on civilian facilities and people.
The leaders have a common position: no decisions concerning Ukraine's future can be made without Ukraine. There can also be no decisions without clear and effective security guarantees. Until these are in place, sanctions against Russia must remain in force and be continually strengthened. This pressure must be maintained.
The President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Canada also agreed on further contacts with partners.
