The SSU Counterintelligence detained another enemy agent in Donetsk oblast. The perpetrator was tracking the locations of the Defense Forces in the hottest area of the front line - Pokrovsk direction.
The enemy was planning offensive operations using heavy guided bombs and all types of artillery.
The investigation established that a local resident was recruited by the russian military intelligence ('the GRU'). He turned out to be a 34-year-old electrician from neighboring Myrnograd, who wished for complete occupation of the region.
To recruit the supporter of ruscism, the GRU used his classmate, who is currently fighting against the Defense Forces in eastern Ukraine.
The agent's main task was to walk around Pokrovsk and the surrounding areas and photograph the positions of Ukrainian troops.
The adversary was most interested in the coordinates of fortified areas, backup command posts, and Ukrainian ammunition depots.
Returning home after reconnaissance sorties, the asset summarized the collected data in a 'report' for the occupiers.
The SSU identified the perpetrator at an early stage, documented his contacts with the GRU and detained him. Simultaneously, the SSU Counterintelligence protected the locations of Pokrovsk's defenders.
During the searches, a phone with an anonymous chat in a messenger app was seized from the detainee. In it, he coordinated his actions with the occupiers.
SSU investigators notified him of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The special operation in the frontline area was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor's Office.
