The SSU Counterintelligence has prevented a new terrorist attack in the frontline city of Dnipro. As a result of comprehensive measures, a russian agent who was preparing an explosion near the administrative building of one of the law enforcement agencies downtown was detained.
According to the investigation, the order was carried out by a 29-year-old drug addict from Vinnytsia, who came to the attention of the occupiers while looking for "easy money" on Telegram.
After recruitment, russian special services agents "sent" the agent to Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk region. There, following her handler's instructions, she took an improvised explosive device from a cache.
Later, the suspect was given a new task to arrive in Dnipro, move into a rented apartment, and conduct reconnaissance near the law enforcement building where the ruscists were planning to carry out the explosion.
At the same time, the agent found a place near the planned attack site for a cache, where she hid the IED and gave the coordinates to her handler.
The perpetrator of the attack had to take the explosives from the cache, plant them near a government building, and activate them.
SSU officers have taken preemptive action, seized the IED from its cache and disrupted it, then detained the suspect as she attempted to flee the city.
The detention took place at a checkpoint, which the traitor attempted to cross by bus towards Odesa, where she planned to "lay low".
SSU investigators have notified her of suspicion under Articles 14.1, Article 258.2 of the CCU (preparation for a terrorist act committed by a group of persons acting in concert).
The perpetrator is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor's Office.
To note: In July, the SSU prevented another russian terrorist attack in Dnipropetrovsk region.
