In Donetsk region, the SSU Counterintelligence has dismantled another agent network of russia's federal security service. The perpetrators were spying on the defensive lines of Ukrainian troops in the frontline areas.
The enemy was most interested in the geolocations of the strongholds and combat positions of Ukrainian artillery, which fires at russian assault groups on Kramatorsk direction.
The russian special service also tried to gather intelligence on alternative routes for Ukrainian armoured vehicles moving towards the front line.
The occupiers planned to use the information from the agents to prepare new attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses on the eastern front.
The SSU uncovered the agent network at an early stage and detained all three of its members. Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the locations of the Defense Forces.
The investigation established that the traitors acted independently of each other and had several FSB handlers.
Two of the assets were unemployed residents of Kostiantynivka who were spying on the AFU defense lines on the outskirts of the city.
They also attempted to track the logistics routes for the supply of ammunition and the movement of Ukrainian troops to the front line.
Another enemy agent is a 45-year-old resident of Sloviansk. He tracked the locations of fortified areas and military depots near the frontline city.
To collect data, the perpetrators walked in the target areas, photographed and marked the positions of the Defense Forces on Google Maps, and then reported to their handlers.
SSU investigators have notified the detained individuals of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:
- 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
- 114-2.2, 114-2.3 (unauthorized dissemination of information on movement or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other lawful military formations, committed under martial law).
The suspects are in custody and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor's Office.
