The SSU's cyber units have prevented a large-scale sabotage operation by russia in Odesa oblast.

As a result of the Service's special operation, two FSB agents were detained. They were preparing a missile strike by russian forces on a saltpeter storage facility in one of the seaports.

The investigation established that the perpetrators' task was to determine the presence of explosive mineral fertilizers at a local transit depot. In case of a positive response from the agents, the ruscists were going to launch a missile strike on the facility, which would have caused massive destruction.

The enemy agents turned out to be a 29-year-old local man and a woman, his 56-year-old accomplice.

To carry out the task of russia's federal security service, the man got a job as a handyman at the port and began tracking the arrival of sea cargo.

Upon discovering the tanks filled with saltpeter, the agent immediately reported this to his handler and sent him the coordinates.

The SSU detained the traitor and took action to protect the port infrastructure. All the saltpeter was removed from the site of a potential russian strike.

The agent's accomplice has been detained. She drove him to carry out enemy's test tasks, which included arson of relay cabinets on the railway.

Evidence of working for the enemy and combat grenades were found during the searches at the suspects' homes.

SSU investigators have notified both detainees of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
  • 263.1 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosive substances).

The suspects are in custody and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out jointly with the SSU Office in Odesa region under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office.
