The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police have prevented a series of terrorist attacks against the Defense Forces in several regions of Ukraine. Six agents of russia's federal security service have been detained: they were preparing to blow up Ukrainian defenders using improvised explosive devices.
All assets were recruited by russian special services through Telegram channels offering 'easy money'.
In Kyiv, two members of an organized sabotage group were apprehended. On behalf of the FSB, they attempted to plant explosives near one of the region's military units.
The perpetrators turned out to be two local drug addicts, while their actions were coordinated from a pre-trial detention center by a detainee who had set fire to an AFU vehicle a year ago.
He involved his cellmate in the sabotage activities. While behind bars, both repeat offenders continued to carry out russia's orders and involved two accomplices on the outside for this purpose.
In Vinnytsia, an enemy agent was caught red-handed while planting explosives near an apartment building where military families lived.
The detained individual is a 19-year-old resident of Zhytomyr oblast. After recruitment, his handler sent him to Vinnytsia, where he took explosives from a cache for the attack.
In Dnipro, the SSU and the National Police detained a couple of enemy agents who attempted to blow up an Armed Forces serviceman. To carry out the attack, the saboteurs lured the defender to a 'date' with supposedly 'a sister of another soldier fighting on the front line'.
Before the meeting, the 'girl' asked to pick up her brother's belongings from an acquaintance. In reality, it was the terrorist who handed the soldier a bag with the bomb.
Immediately after the 'package' was handed over, the occupiers tried to remotely detonate the IED, but the law enforcement defused it and detained the pair of agents.
Another traitor was arrested in Rivne. He was ordered by the occupiers to blow up a Defense Forces serviceman's car. To do this, he planted an IED in the passenger compartment of the service vehicle and installed a hidden camera nearby.
With the help of the video device, the enemy hoped to track the arrival of the military officer at the site of the planned attack and eliminate him.
The individuals involved have been notified of suspicion, according to the offences they committed, under the Articles of the CCU:
- 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
- 28.3, 113.2 (sabotage, committed by an organized group, under martial law);
- 15.2, 258.2 (completed attempt to commit a terrorist act, by a group, upon prior conspiracy);
- 28.3, 263.1 (illegal handling of explosives committed by an organized group).
The suspects face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operations were carried out by the SSU Offices in Kyiv and Kyiv region, Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Rivne, and Zaporizhzhia regions under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Offices.
