Lithuania protests to Russia over most intense shelling of Ukraine to date
Republic of Lithuania - Ministry of Foreign Affairs
2025-07-04
Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania summoned the chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Russian Embassy in Lithuania to protest regarding the extremely massive shelling of Ukraine by the Russian military forces. On the night of 3 July, Russia launched 550 combat drones and various missiles across Ukraine.
In this shelling, which violated not only the laws of war but also the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, not only residential buildings, medical and educational institutions were affected, but also the Polish consulate in Kyiv.
Lithuania, the European Union and other democracies around the world are making and will continue to make the necessary efforts for Ukraine's victory, as well as to ensure that all war criminals - both the perpetrators and their leaders - are held accountable for every war crime committed on an ever-expanding crime list, the note said.
Russia was once again urged to immediately cease its illegal aggression against Ukraine, stop all military actions, withdraw its armed forces from the territory of Ukraine, and compensate Ukraine for all the damage caused by Russia's military aggression.
