The SSU Military Counterintelligence, in cooperation with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, foiled a new attempt by russia to obtain coordinates of the Ukrainian Air Force's aviation infrastructure.
During a special operation in Lviv region, the Service detained a major of the Ukrainian Air Force who turned out to be an enemy agent. The occupiers recruited him through his ex-wife, a former military servicewoman who works for the aggressor in Melitopol.
The mole's sabotage activities were coordinated by Aleksander Belodedov, a serving officer of the FSB's Alpha special operations unit.
The agent's main task was to gather information about Ukrainian military aviation. russia tried to obtain the coordinates of operational airfields, logistics hubs, and maintenance centers for Ukrainian combat aircraft.
If they obtained the geolocations, the occupiers intended to launch missile and drone strikes against them.
The SSU uncovered the traitor at an early stage, documented his contacts with the russian special services, and detained him.
Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the locations of Ukrainian troops.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 28.2 and 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
His ex-wife, who is in the temporarily occupied southern part of Ukraine, has also been charged in absentia with high treason under martial law.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office.
