The SSU Counterintelligence and the National Police detained an agent of russian special services who was ordered by the enemy to carry out a series of terrorist attacks in Ukraine's northern regions.

One of his tasks was to eliminate a National Guard soldier in Kyiv.

To this end, the enemy lured the Ukrainian defender to a backyard in Kyiv under the pretext of a 'date' with a girl from a dating chat.

When the serviceman arrived at the location, the russians remotely detonated an improvised explosive device that was in a scooter parked nearby. No one was injured in the incident.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator is a 19-year-old resident of Kyiv region who was looking for easy money on Telegram.

After recruitment, the agent arrived in Kyiv, settled in a rented apartment and, following his handler's instructions, manufactured the IED.

The traitor then purchased a scooter, hid the bomb in the boot, and drove it to the planned site of the attack.

After the failed attempt, the asset received a new assignment: to travel to Pryluky, Chernihiv region, settle in a hotel, and prepare for new tasks. One of these was to burn a military car, and another was to prepare a new terrorist attack.

The law enforcement detained the agent immediately after the car was set on fire.

Components for an improvised explosive device and a phone with evidence of working for the enemy were seized from the suspect during the search.

SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 258.2 of the CCU (terrorist act).

The suspect faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region in cooperation with the National Police under the procedural supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
