The SSU Counterintelligence and the National Police have detained an enemy agent who carried out a terrorist attack against Kharkiv defenders on 20 June this year.
On that day, russian special services activated an improvised explosive device hidden in the boot of a scooter while two servicemen were nearby.
The explosion occurred near a Kharkiv café, where the enemy lured the soldiers under the pretext of giving them a 'volunteer' motor scooter.
To prepare for the crime, the aggressor recruited a 19-year-old Kharkiv woman, whom they found on Telegram channels offering easy money.
After recruitment, the asset received detailed instructions from her handler on how to make an improvised explosive device at home. She then purchased household chemicals, a battery, wires and two phones for remote detonation.
The perpetrator brought the finished bomb to the scooter's parking spot and hid it in its trunk.
Using a camera hidden at the planned attack site, russian special services tracked the arrival of military personnel at the location.
After committing the crime, the terrorist attempted to go into hiding but was detained by the law enforcement a few hours after the explosion.
Unused components of the explosive device and a phone with evidence of working for the enemy were seized from her during searches.
SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 258.3 of the CCU (terrorist act resulting in death).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Kharkiv Office in cooperation with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor's Office.
