The so-called "National Consultations VOKS2025 on Ukraine's Accession to the European Union," initiated by the Hungarian Government, have concluded in Hungary. They lasted from April 14 to June 20.

We respect those Hungarian citizens who participated in the consultations, including those who hold views different from our own. We are ready to hear their concerns and to explain our position.

The official results of the consultations have not yet been published. However, it is hard to doubt the overall manipulative intention behind this initiative of the Hungarian Government, which has nothing in common with the principles of democracy, openness, and transparency in expressing the people's will.

The Hungarian Government made every possible effort to secure the outcome it desired. The consultations were accompanied by aggressive incitement of groundless hatred toward everything related to Ukraine. Such an information campaign has been ongoing for many months. Hungarian officials have been inventing non-existent threats allegedly coming from Ukraine in order to unjustifiably intimidate Hungarian citizens.

The real aim of this anti-Ukrainian hysteria is to divert the attention of Hungarian society from the failures of the Government's socio-economic policy toward an imaginary external enemy. We are confident that the overwhelming majority of Hungarian citizens are capable of recognizing this primitive manipulation.

We consider the Hungarian people as friends and remain sincerely grateful to all Hungarians who have genuinely supported Ukraine and the Ukrainian people throughout the full-scale invasion. We are confident that the majority of the Hungarian society clearly understands that Ukraine and Ukrainians are not their enemies.

We firmly believe that Ukraine's accession to the European Union is in Hungary's own strategic interest. It would bring greater stability to the region as a whole and ensure the protection and well-being of all Ukrainian citizens, including members of the Hungarian national minority. That is why its leadership has previously appealed to the Prime Minister of Hungary with a request not to block Ukraine's EU accession.

If the Hungarian government does have concerns regarding Ukraine's European integration, it should instead support the opening of accession negotiations. The negotiation process is designed precisely to identify and address the concerns of EU member states when new countries join. The negotiations will allow Hungary's concerns regarding potential risks to be addressed and dispelled.

Ukraine's accession to the EU is an irreversible civilizational choice of the Ukrainian people. Even under conditions of full-scale invasion, Ukraine is actively working to fulfill all the necessary requirements on this path. Our EU partners have recognized the significant progress made by our country. EU representatives have repeatedly emphasized that the next wave of enlargement will positively impact on the Union's economic potential and the overall security situation in Europe.

Ukraine's membership in the EU will strengthen the entire European community, increase stability and security, open new opportunities for European businesses, and reinforce the EU through Ukraine's technologies, digital innovation, renewable energy, logistics, and other sectors. Ukraine seeks constructive partnership with all EU member states, including Hungary, in building a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Europe.
