In Kyiv, the SSU Counterintelligence apprehended an agent of the special purpose center Senezh of the russian military intelligence ('the GRU').

According to the investigation, the perpetrator guided russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv region.

The traitor is a 44-year-old Kyiv resident. He came to the attention of russia's GRU during a chat roulette, where he expressed pro-russian views.

After recruitment, the man began tracking locations of local businesses that he believed could be involved in the production of military gear for the Defense Forces.

To gather intelligence, he tried to elicit 'necessary' information from people he knew under the guise of casual conversations and then went to the addresses of potential targets for further reconnaissance.

The agent also spied on routes and combat positions of mobile defense groups during air raid alerts.

The enemy planned to use this information to prepare attacks evading Ukrainian air defenses.

The Security Service documented every step of the agent's activities and took action to protect Ukrainian enterprises.

In the final stage of the operation, the SSU detained the suspect at his home. Two phones with his 'reports' containing photos of Ukrainian objects linked to Google Maps were found during searches.

SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
