The Government has tasked the Swedish Armed Forces with making disbursements to the capability coalitions in the demining and drone areas within the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG) framework. This SEK 80 million in support is part of the 18th military support package to Ukraine.
The Government has tasked the Swedish Armed Forces with supporting the capability coalitions within the UDCG framework on several occasions. The Armed Forces will now have a similar assignment and will provide SEK 40 million (EUR 3.6 million) in support to the Demining Coalition and an equal amount to the Drone Coalition.
"This support ensures that Ukraine can develop its drone technology and mine clearance capabilities. It will help the Ukrainian army and the Ukrainian society," says defence minister Pål Jonson.
The UDCG is a multilateral coalition consisting of 57 countries and was established by the United States to coordinate and synchronise international defence materiel procurement, material production and sustainability efforts to support Ukraine's self-defence. The countries' defence ministers meet regularly in Ramstein, Germany, at NATO Headquarters or virtually.
Within the UDCG framework, several defence coalitions have been established to ensure long-term support to Ukraine's defence. Sweden is currently a member of six of these coalitions.
