On Wednesday, President Gitanas Nausėda met in New York with Polish President Andrzej Duda, Estonian President Alar Karis, and Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs.

This is already a traditional coordination meeting between the leaders of the Baltic States and Poland to discuss and coordinate their positions on key matters during the United Nations General Assembly. The discussions centered on regional security, support for Ukraine, and peace negotiations.

During the meeting, President Gitanas Nausėda emphasized that Ukraine's victory is crucial for the security of both the region and Europe as a whole. He underscored the importance of continuing joint efforts to consolidate support for Ukraine and keeping this issue at the forefront of allies' agendas. The President highlighted that the Baltic States and Poland can serve as examples to other countries to step up their support for Ukraine by all means—military, financial and political. Gitanas Nausėda also stressed the significance of actively supporting Ukraine's accession to the European Union, noting that its EU membership would bolster security and peace across Europe.

"The countries in our region have become key players in mobilizing international support for Ukraine. We must continue to speak with one voice in the EU, NATO, and the United Nations. It is through our unity that we can achieve meaningful results for our region. This is the only way to ensure security and stability in our countries and throughout Europe," the Head of State stated.

The Presidents of Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Poland also addressed the need to actively utilize the UN platform to rally support for Ukraine's Peace Formula. President Gitanas Nausėda emphasized that peace negotiations can only take place on Ukraine's terms, with full respect for the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty. He also highlighted the importance of working at the UN level to isolate the aggressor, Russia, and its accomplice, Belarus, in the international arena and to hold them accountable for the war crimes committed in Ukraine.
