On 23 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, attended the G7+ Ministerial Meeting on Ukraine Energy Sector Support.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken hosted the event, during which foreign ministers discussed providing assistance to Ukraine in preparation for the upcoming winter season.

"If we don't allow Ukraine to strike back, all the support we have given could be in ruins," Landsbergis said at the G7+ meeting.

During the event., Landsbergis showed his counterparts the debris from the destroyed Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Plant.

As Russia continues to attack Ukraine's energy infrastructure, the international community's support is critical.

"Lithuania's support to Ukraine's energy sector amounts to EUR 63 million, and the dismantling of a thermal power plant is currently being completed. Lithuania will hand over the dismantled power plant to Ukraine," said the head of Lithuania's diplomacy.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha shared the country's ambitious plans, ranging from the transition to renewable energy sources and the decentralisation of production and distribution networks to the construction of an underground power station.

The foreign ministers of the countries that make up the G7 - the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, France and Germany, as well as Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine and other countries - attended the event.
