Gitanas Nausėda spoke with the President of Ukraine by telephone

On Monday, President Gitanas Nausėda had a telephone call with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine. The Ukrainian President called to congratulate Mr. Nausėda on his victory in the presidential election.

Gitanas Nausėda thanked the President of Ukraine for extending sincere good wishes on his re-election for a second term. The two leaders also discussed Ukraine's fight against the aggressor and the need for military aid. The President emphasized that Lithuania will continue to actively support Ukraine with all means and mobilize allied assistance to achieve victory as soon as possible.

"Lithuania is and will remain one of the most committed supporters of Ukraine. As I continue my tenure as President of Lithuania, I will ensure the continuity of assistance and Lithuania's strong support for Ukraine in the international space. It is a matter of security and well-being for all of us. Ukraine's victory is vital for the whole of Europe," the President said.

The Lithuanian and Ukrainian Presidents discussed the Ukraine Peace Conference to be held in Switzerland and the upcoming NATO Summit in Washington. Gitanas Nausėda stressed the need to seek progress in bringing Ukraine and NATO closer together.

The Presidents exchanged views on the process of Ukraine's integration into the European Union. Gitanas Nausėda emphasized that he viewed positively the possibility of opening accession negotiations this coming June. According to the President, Lithuania strongly supports Ukraine's smooth and rapid integration into the European Union.
