On Saturday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis met with the Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov. They discussed the course of the war and the frontline situation. Landsbergis noted that Lithuania would always support Ukraine and would never accept attempts to pressure Ukraine to negotiate with Russia under the conditions it imposed.
"Now is a crucial time of choices. With the help of all of us, Ukraine can win, and then we will have a new period of peace. But if we do not mobilise and support Ukraine in time, challenges will emerge facing not only the country that is fighting for all of us now, not only our region but also Europe as a whole," Landsbergis said.
Foreign Ministers also discussed the importance of new countermeasures and innovation in war. They agreed that Lithuania and Ukraine should cooperate in the defence industry, drones and other modern weapons production and development, where Ukraine's experience is invaluable, and Lithuania is ready to contribute.
Landsbergis underlined that Lithuania would continue to seek to respond to Ukraine's most urgent military, humanitarian, economic, civil infrastructure reconstruction and other needs and would also encourage allies to do so.
