When asked to comment on media reports that Taiwan island's deputy regional leader Hsiao Bi-khim was followed by Chinese diplomatic staff during her visit to Prague in March last year and that there were attempts to attack her, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that the Czech Republic allowing "Taiwan independence" hardliners like Hsiao to visit is a serious violation of the one-China principle and the Czech Republic's political commitments to China.
This constitutes a blatant interference in China's internal affairs, and China has expressed strong dissatisfaction and opposition to this, Guo said.
"I want to emphasize that Chinese diplomatic personnel have always adhered to the laws and regulations of the host country. China urges the relevant parties not to be provoked or manipulated by 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces, and not to create unnecessary trouble or malicious hype that undermines bilateral relations," Guo said.
No matter how the DPP authorities change their tactics and seek foreign support for "independence", they cannot conceal their sinister intentions, which are doomed to fail, he added.
