In response to a question regarding the Taiwan regional economic authorities' recent claim of adding 601 entities to the "export control list" - including mainland chip R&D enterprises like Huawei and SMIC - with investors on the island worrying that the "export bans" would impact Taiwan's semiconductor enterprises, Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, told a press conference on Wednesday that the DPP authorities have groveled shamelessly before tariff bullying that harms Taiwan, while undermining mutually beneficial cross-Straits economic cooperation. They even assist the US in suppressing mainland companies as a way to curry favor with Washington for seeking "Taiwan independence" through foreign support. Such despicable acts are utterly contemptible. We will take forceful measures to resolutely safeguard the normal order of cross-Straits economic and trade exchanges and cooperation, and protect the interests and well-being of compatriots on both sides of the Straits, Zhu said.

We hereby warn the DPP authorities that technological blockades cannot stop the pace of scientific and technological innovation on the Chinese mainland, and attempts to "decouple and break chains" cannot hinder the mainland's industrial upgrading process. Any act by the DPP authorities to disrupt cross-Straits economic cooperation will only damage the competitiveness of Taiwan enterprises and narrow the development space of Taiwan's economy. Facts have repeatedly proven that joining hands across the Taiwan Straits is the right path forward, Zhu said.
