Taipei, April 11 (CNA) The Ministry of National Defense (MND) said it detected 14 Chinese military aircraft entering Taiwan's air defense identification zone (ADIZ) Thursday morning, with some of the planes also crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait.

The aircraft were among 26 spotted between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. by Taiwan's armed forces, which also clocked the presence of nine Chinese naval vessels.

The Chinese military planes detected included Chengdu J-10s, Chengdu J-16s and Sukhoi SU-30 fighter jets, as well as Shaanxi KJ-200 airborne early warning and control aircraft, according to the MND.

The MND did not specify which aircraft types had entered Taiwan's ADIZ or made median line crossings.

The nine Chinese naval vessels continue to operate in waters around Taiwan, the MND said.

The ministry said it had scrambled planes to monitor the Chinese aircraft, in addition to issuing radio warnings, mobilizing combat air and naval patrols and deploying defensive missile systems.
