Eastern Theatre Command of the CCP has announced that it will carry out war preparedness and surveillance patrols as well as military exercises around the periphery of Taiwan. In response to this, the MND stated today (8 th ) that the Armed Forces shall use joint intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance measures to closely monitor the situation around the region as it continues to uphold a high degree of vigilance to adapt to the changing situation and defend our national security with every effort.
The MND has pointed out that the CCP has continued to send aircraft and warships to harass the region in recent years, and already posed threats to regional stability. Further, the CCP exploited President Tsai's visit to the United States as an excuse to carry out military exercises, which has seriously compromised the peace, stability, and security of the region. The Armed Forces shall respond with a calm, rational, and serious attitude, adhering to the principle of "Not Escalating Conflict, and Not Triggering Fights", stay alert, and continue to monitor the situation to defend our national sovereignty and security.
